I'm super thrilled to announce the 4th major version of Akurai theme today (December 13, 2024). It's a big update with a lot of internal improvements - I completely rewrote the theme to make it faster, safer and up-to-date with current industry trends.
This update also features a design refresh making the theme more elegant and modern.
A couple of quick notes about this update.
Demos
Here are 2 new demo websites that you can easily import with all their contents, media, widgets and customizations.
Full width layouts
You can now use full width layouts on any page. Check out the Full With Template pages on demos: Atlanta and Dortmund.
On this template the content is not limited to any width. You need to use "group" blocks for your content to make them contained. Each of the groups can have a unique background (color, image, gradient). It's fun, and it presents you with tons of opportunities to customize your pages.
Patterns
In this version I've also included Patterns in the theme, native WP Patterns that can be used on any page. In version 4.0 there are 5 patterns available.
I'll be adding more patterns for the upcoming updates and I hope you'll use them on your websites.
Blocks
All the theme block designs have been updated, some of them even have more layout and customization options. Check them out on demo websites: Atlanta, Dortmund
Misc
There are quite a lot of improvements and changes in this update starting with header layouts, page title alignment to schema markups, subtle color updates and more. This update also enables addition of new features such as blocks, templates, etc. easier and quicker, so if you have any ideas, feel free to let me know.
Akurai Geo
If you own Akurai Geo, you don't need to update it or do anything else. All these changes will be reflected on plugin blocks as well.
Upgrading
If you're using the 3rd version of Akurai, you can upgrade to version 4.0 without any major issues. There shouldn't be any errors, however, there can be visible changes on the website as some of the blocks and layouts have been updated. If you prefer the current look of the theme, you should perhaps disable automatic updates.
